Biography/Details

Originally from North Wales, I have lived and worked in Suffolk since 2009. I have been a practising artist for over 40 years, I have a BA (Hons.) in Art & Design from Wolverhampton Polytechnic (1976) and a Master of Fine Arts in Painting from Concordia University, Montreal (1981). I have exhibited in the UK (currently at the Ferini Gallery in Pakefield. - pakefieldgallery.com) and Canada and my artwork is in private collections in the UK, Europe, Canada and Australia. I am a member of Ipswich Art Society.

I work in oils, acrylics and mixed media and subjects include images of the Suffolk coast, such as the form and colours of the waves, and the effects of the eroding coastline.

In my latest series of paintings. I have imagined what famous artists' beach huts might look like including, so far, the beach huts of Rene Magritte, Salvador Dali, Piet Mondrian, Jackson Pollock, Christo and Vincent Van Gogh.

I take commissions for portraits including animals/pets or for a favourite place such as a special landscape, someone's house or the church where they were married .

Another speciality of mine is painting portraits in the style of famous artists, e.g  Robin Williams in the style of Van Gogh,  David Bowie in the style of Picasso, Tracey Emin in the style of Frida Kahlo.

I have also taken part in Wild at Art sculpture trails, painting  "Piggy Stardust for 'Pigs Gone Wild' (Ipswich, 2016),  'The Room in The Elephant' for 'Elmer's Big Parade' (Ipswich 2019),  'Hare Of The Dog' for  'Hares About Town' (Southend, 2021), 'Stellarphant' for 'Herd In The City' (Southend, 2023 and 'Watchdog' for 'PAWSitivity' (Suffolk Libraries, 2023).

Since 2016 I have been a Programme Leader for Inside Out - an Ipswich based charity providing creative workshops for arts and wellbeing. I also work part-time as a peer mentor for Wellbeing Suffolk (Norfolk and Suffolk Foundation trust).

I believe wholeheartedly in the ability of creative activity to help maintain, restore and improve mental health and wellbeing.
