Sarah Figlio’s studio is a place of stories, exp Sarah Figlio’s studio is a place of stories, exploration and connection – filled with paintings, artist books, found-object sculptures and layered mixed media works that reflect a deep curiosity about how we navigate space, memory and identity. With a background in fine art from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Sarah has exhibited internationally for over 30 years.

Her practice includes drawing, marbling, bookmaking and working with collected materials – what she calls Unbound Books – and everything she creates carries a tactile sense of discovery. The land and light of Suffolk feed into her process, along with ideas of movement, mapping and being rooted in place.

Sarah will be opening her studio for Suffolk Open Studios on 21/22 June – a chance to explore her work and enjoy a relaxed visit in a beautiful garden setting near Kersey.

Christian Figg is a Suffolk-based painter whose wo Christian Figg is a Suffolk-based painter whose work explores the stark, sculptural beauty of the East Anglian coast. From the empty shingle beaches of Dunwich to the industrial forms of Sizewell, his paintings are bold yet contemplative – simplified in colour and form, and deeply rooted in solitude, memory and place.

Christian’s oil paintings respond to the tension between the man-made and natural world – capturing sharp contrasts, shifting light, and the haunting presence of landscapes shaped by sea, weather and time. His work is both abstracted and instantly recognisable – echoing a personal connection to the coast that has shaped him as both artist and individual.

Although Christian is not opening his studio for Suffolk Open Studios this year, his powerful paintings can be explored online and through future exhibitions.

Simon Farr’s work blends fine art, illustration Simon Farr’s work blends fine art, illustration and cartooning – often with a darkly playful or absurd twist. With a background in political cartooning and narrative illustration, Simon’s drawings and mixed media pieces explore strange characters, curious moments and the stories that lie just beneath the surface. He’s an inveterate sketchbook-filler and occasional life drawing tutor, with work that is as expressive as it is unexpected.

During the first two weekends of Suffolk Open Studios, Simon welcomed visitors into his creative world – a studio filled with wit, imagination and plenty of ink. If you missed it, don’t worry – you can still explore his work and follow for new projects, exhibitions and sketchbook gems.
