Jane Durant’s work is all about observation — Jane Durant’s work is all about observation — drawing, painting and printmaking that reflects the world around her in lively, expressive ways. With a background in graphic design and illustration, Jane brings a strong sense of composition and detail to her mixed media pieces, now created purely for the love of it from her studio in Mellis, Suffolk.

After a career in London’s design world, Jane’s return to hands-on creativity has seen her explore a wide range of subjects and styles, all grounded in the everyday beauty of her surroundings.

Jane’s studio at Sutton House, Mellis will be open on 21/22 and 28/29 June as part of Suffolk Open Studios — a lovely opportunity to meet her, browse original work, and enjoy a welcoming creative space.

Penny Evans is an award-winning fibre artist whose Penny Evans is an award-winning fibre artist whose work is rooted in the rhythms of the natural world. Using wet felting techniques with wool, silk and other fibres, she creates richly textured surfaces – sometimes incorporating stitch – that reflect the shifting seasons, local landscapes and her rural surroundings.

Each piece is a quiet celebration of texture, colour and form, with lit felted columns and wall pieces that invite closer inspection. Penny is always exploring – blending materials and techniques to tell new stories through fibre and thread.

Today, Penny will be exhibiting with a group of Suffolk Open Studios artists at The Old Goods Shed, Clare Country Park, open 11am–5pm this weekend (14/15 June). 👉 Follow for studio insights and new work.

Jocelyne Dudding creates silver, gold and gemstone Jocelyne Dudding creates silver, gold and gemstone jewellery inspired by Suffolk’s landscapes, gardens and wildlife. Originally from New Zealand and trained as a photographer, Jocelyne now brings her eye for texture and form into handcrafted pieces made in her garden studio. From leaves and petals to beach pebbles and beeswax, nature plays a key role in both her materials and making process.

Each piece tells a story – often drawing from folklore, science or literature – and is brought to life with traditional silversmithing techniques, tiny enamel details, and carefully chosen gemstones.

Jocelyne’s studio is open this weekend for Suffolk Open Studios. It’s the perfect chance to see her tools, process, and beautifully tactile creations up close.

Jill Draper paints the East Anglian landscape with Jill Draper paints the East Anglian landscape with a delicate yet expressive touch, using watercolour and water-soluble crayons to capture shifting skies, rippling creeks, and windswept beaches.

A former textile artist with a background in printed fabrics and embroidery, they bring a deep appreciation for detail, texture and craftsmanship into every painting.
