Constantly inspired by Suffolk, I can often be found cycling and sketching around local fields and lanes, or walking the coastal pathways and reserves.
My favourite mediums, particularly when working with landscape, had always been watercolour often combined with charcoal, but more recently I became involved with printing techniques, specifically linocutting. Carving my designs into lino blocks gives me satisfyingly graphic images, which I am continuing to exploit and explore. I have an Albion printing press in my studio at home where I can experiment and further develop my art through printmaking.
Gainsborough’s House Print Workshop has provided me with support and instruction, and the opportunity for our group ‘PRINTmakers’ to meet and share ideas. We exhibit several times a year at various galleries in Aldeburgh, Cornard, Snape, Framlingham and Woodbridge - to name a few - my Instagram pages will show up-to-date information re. upcoming shows.
Amongst my many heroes are Ravilious, Bawden and the Nash brothers.
If you find you are interested in my work, you would be very welcome to visit my Debenham studio, by appointment.
