Artist working primarily in digital print and paper.
My interests lie in visual perception and the figure-ground relationship.
Biography/Details

Cressida is an artist who works primarily in digital print and paper. After graduating with a BA (Hons) in Jewellery and Silversmithing from Middlesex University, she ran a successful design recruitment business in the fashion industry for 22 years.  In 2018, she decided to pursue her passion for printmaking.

Working mainly with geometric shapes and primarily in monochrome, Cressida plays with optical illusion and depth perception to create a sense of three-dimensional space within two-dimensional media.  Her background in design gives her work a bold, structural quality but also radiates a feeling of lightness and calm.

Liesel Lawrence – Form, Fire and Function Liese Liesel Lawrence – Form, Fire and Function

Liesel Lawrence creates ceramics that sit at the intersection of purpose and artistry – high-fired stoneware pieces that are as tactile as they are thoughtful. Her work spans domestic ware, hand-built sculptural forms and occasional raku firings, often finished with light glazes over multi-coloured surfaces.

Trained originally as a sculptor in Hamburg and later at Camberwell School of Art, Liesel brings a sculptor’s eye to the ceramic form – whether she’s throwing a useful vessel or building something more abstract and expressive by hand.

Working from her studio in Suffolk, she exhibits through Anglian Potters and Suffolk Open Studios, continuing a long-standing practice that values both utility and imagination.

For those curious about the range of ceramics being made in the region, the Suffolk Open Studios Summer Exhibition at Holton Lodge Barn (21–31 August) is a great opportunity to explore.

Tracy Laudat – Abstract Works That Invite Reflec Tracy Laudat – Abstract Works That Invite Reflection

Tracy Laudat’s paintings are driven by intuition – rich with movement, texture and colour that speak more to feeling than to form. Working in acrylics, she plays with the interaction of opaque and translucent layers, allowing her compositions to shift and shimmer with depth.

Originally from London and now based in Suffolk, Tracy began painting during the COVID lockdown as a personal and therapeutic escape. What began as a quiet outlet soon evolved into a confident and evolving abstract practice – one that invites each viewer to interpret her work in their own way.

Her paintings are known for their fine details and subtle embellishments – visual moments that pull you in the longer you look. Tracy regularly exhibits and takes part in creative events across the region, which she shares via her website and social media.

For anyone looking to explore local creativity, the Suffolk Open Studios Summer Exhibition at Holton Lodge Barn (21–31 August) is a great place to start.

Sally Ladbrooke – Colourful Conversations with t Sally Ladbrooke – Colourful Conversations with the Landscape

Sally Ladbrooke works in layers – of media, colour and meaning. Drawing from plein air sketches made in her garden or out in the Suffolk landscape, she transforms those moments into mixed media pieces that burst with life and texture.

Using watercolour, acrylic inks, oil pastels and the occasional fragment of gelli-printed tissue, Sally builds compositions that are bold yet thoughtful. Still life subjects are a recurring theme – but never still. Colour and composition work together to inject energy into every piece.

She’s an active member of several local art groups and enjoys the shared inspiration that comes from working alongside others – whether tackling the same subject or simply exchanging ideas.

If you’re curious to explore the vibrant and varied art being made in the county, the Suffolk Open Studios Summer Exhibition at Holton Lodge Barn (21–31 August) is a brilliant place to start.

The Kirins – A Life in Collaboration The Kirins The Kirins – A Life in Collaboration

The Kirins are a West Suffolk-based artist couple whose shared practice blends drawing, watercolour, ink and chance. After first meeting at art college in London in the 1980s, their paths crossed again decades later – leading not just to marriage, but to a creative partnership grounded in trust, openness and artistic curiosity.

Their collaborative works explore themes ranging from architecture and human interaction to reimagined classical narratives. There’s a gentle boldness to what they do – layering styles, switching hands, and embracing the unexpected. While their individual voices remain distinct, their joined practice brings something new and often surprising to life.

Exhibiting together since 2016, The Kirins are represented by Bell Fine Art and London Contemporary Art. They’ve also supported cultural institutions and charities through their art – seeing creativity and community as naturally intertwined.

The Suffolk Open Studios Summer Exhibition at Holton Lodge Barn (21–31 August) is a perfect place to explore artists working together, individually – and everything in between.

Belinda King – Rhythm, Light and the Landscape W Belinda King – Rhythm, Light and the Landscape Within

Belinda King’s landscapes are not about place so much as feeling – shifting skies, layered hills, the rhythm of trees in silhouette. Working mainly in oils and acrylics, her colourful, stylised paintings are shaped by mood, memory and imagination rather than precise geography.

Having trained at St Martins School of Art in the 1960s, Belinda’s career has spanned printmaking, painting and teaching. She was a founding member of Gainsborough’s House Print Workshop and has exhibited widely, with a recent solo show Landscape Unlocked at Burgh House in Hampstead.

Now based in Assington, Belinda continues to explore the emotional power of landscape – using quick pencil sketches as a starting point for work that often edges towards abstraction. Teaching remains part of her creative rhythm, with private drawing and painting classes held locally.

The Suffolk Open Studios Summer Exhibition at Holton Lodge Barn (21–31 August) is a great way to explore what local artists are making now – from traditional to experimental, expressive to abstract.

Precision Meets Play in Abstract Form James Knigh Precision Meets Play in Abstract Form

James Knights brings a unique fusion of structure and spontaneity to his abstract work – combining the logic of engineering with the freedom of artistic exploration.

His pieces often begin with geometry and technical drawing, then shift into expressive mark-making, collage or textural experimentation.

The result is a bold visual conversation – between order and chaos, constraint and release. Colour plays a central role, as does the tension between found materials and clean lines, expressive brushstrokes and mathematical logic.

Now based in Suffolk, James continues to push the boundaries of his practice. His work has appeared in group exhibitions at Firstsite in Colchester, the Southbank Centre and The Affordable Art Fair in London.

If you’re curious to see what local artists are creating, the Suffolk Open Studios Summer Exhibition at Holton Lodge Barn (21–31 August) is a brilliant place to start.

Finding Beauty in the Everyday Esther Keeble pain Finding Beauty in the Everyday

Esther Keeble paints with warmth and honesty – drawing inspiration from daily life, local landscapes, animals and quiet moments of homelife. Her paintings feel like gentle observations, full of atmosphere and affection for the ordinary.

Having returned to art after a break, Esther began with sketching before moving into oils – a medium she loves for its tactile quality – and more recently, watercolour, which she describes as joyful and immediate. Whether working from a walk in the countryside or people-watching in town, her work reflects a strong sense of presence and personal connection.

She has exhibited locally and in Cambridge and is continuing to build her practice with new work and upcoming shows.

The Suffolk Open Studios Summer Exhibition at Holton Lodge Barn (21–31 August) is a great opportunity to explore artists working in similar threads of memory, place and daily life.

You can follow Esther on Instagram at @continue.feebs
