I have been drawing and painting for as long as I can remember. I paint objects from my everyday, with an emphasis on saturated colour and brilliant primaries. My aim is to create feelings of joy, focusing on the simple pleasures of a curving jug or a beautiful bowl.
Fascinated by the shape and tonal qualities of ceramics, glass, flowers and fruit, I often draw from objects collected over many years, from an old blue jug, to vintage finds, and Moroccan and Scandinavian glassware.
My practise is also informed by an awareness and deep love for the history of art, which I studied at university. I have always loved the subject of still life, from Cezanne and Matisse, to the work of many contemporary artists.
