I am a practising artist working in my studio at my home in Woodbridge, Suffolk. Following a successful career in fashion design, I discovered embroidery in 2017 and began experimenting with different techniques developing hand stitch and free motion embroidery.
My personal intuitive responses to the environment and the effect of time on surface are pieced together through stitch, rust and eco printing, dyeing, painting, and applique. Inspired by the beauty of antique textiles, faded and weathered by use and the elements, fragments of past times, I give my work a worn and aged quality. My work is characterised by a use of used and repurposed materials which are revived with dye and printed elements and detailed stitching. More recently, I have been exploring printmaking and paint and am developing a more mixed media body of work.
I am a member of the Society for Embroidered Work, Textile Art Group Suffolk (TAGS) and the Eastern Region Textile Forum (ERTF). I exhibit with TAGS and ERTF as part of their group exhibitions and at Suffolk Open Studios. Previously I have exhibited as part of the Cambridge Open Studios community as well as at other art fairs. My piece Corroded Floral was selected for the Open Art Exhibition at Peterborough Museum and Art Gallery in 2019. My work is for sale both at exhibitions and here in my website shop. I also enjoy working on special commissions, please contact me to discuss or for more details.
I have recently produced a range of natural dyed and printed scarves and cushions which are available in my website shop and at art fairs.
I will be running workshops from my Woodbridge studio in 2022 please contact me for details.
