Still life and portraits in oil and acrylic
Light, colour and reflections fascinate me. I try to capture them in my paintings.
Biography/Details

Born in the Netherlands I moved to the UK in 1978. After raising a family I returned to teaching and worked for many happy years in a high school and middle school. I first started painting in watercolours at an evening class. After I retired I discovered oil and acrylics which enabled me to paint in bold colours. My traditional still life paintings are inspired by the Dutch Masters. I love the challenge of capturing a personality in a portrait and painting still lives that feature crockery, glass, fruit, reflections, shadows and sparkle! Recently I have started painting landscapes, dark skies are a real challenge. Update for 2026! I am trying out a new more impressionistic style, inspired by Van Gogh and Cézanne. It is a real challenge and a joy to use even more colours that bring each other to life.
