An amateur painting, on-and-off, since 2012, I enjoy the challenge of recreating an image which has some nostalgic meaning. Many of my paintings have a marine theme representing my upbringing in a seaside village in the north of Spain.
In time I have developed a style that has 4 main influencers: Joaquín Sorolla, also known as ‘the master of light’ so I seek to portray sunny and bright paintings; David Poxon with the selection of what I want to paint, mainly evoking the past; Andrew Pitt by painting in a ‘simple’ style where I mix the colours on the go and on the paper directly rather than glazing; and Sandra Pond with the detail of my work.
Having a busy and demanding lifestyle, painting gives me the time to focus on something different and provides a very fulfilling sense of achievement, especially when people appreciate it.
