Biography/Details

STEVE HIGTON

Originally from Nottingham, Steve has been painting all his life. Although his artistic talents were recognised at an early age and he won awards during his school years, his dream of attending art college were not to be realised. Instead, he pursued a career within the business world and climbed the corporate ladder in the Paper Industry. Art became a hobby to be continued in his spare time. Voluntary redundancy at age 55 and a move to Utah, USA to be near his family, brought about the opportunity to concentrate solely on his art. Encouraged by the critical acclaim of fellow artists and the success in selling his paintings in several local exhibitions, he was spurred on to take his art to the next level.
Steve returned to England in 2008, with a view to establishing himself as a professional artist in the beautiful county of East Anglia. The coast, landscape and the rich artistic tradition of this inspirational county were the magnet that drew him to live and paint here. The lure of the sea and the big skies outside his front door have been the inspiration for so many of Steve's paintings. Local artists of the past, such as Edward Seago, have also been hugely inspirational for him in this respect.
His love of the East Anglian coast is depicted in his atmospheric paintings of the area.
His award winning works can be found at a variety of galleries throughout East Anglia, details of which are available at www.shigtonart.co.uk.
