A life steeped in painting and a deep connection t A life steeped in painting and a deep connection to the natural world defines the work of Suffolk artist Michael Vincent. Born in Bury St Edmunds, he began drawing at the age of four and spent his childhood cycling through the countryside with his easel strapped to the back of his bike. Those early plein air days shaped a lifelong devotion to capturing landscape, light and place.

Working in gouache and oils, Michael paints with a sensitivity informed by decades of observing nature in Suffolk, Finland, New Zealand and Somerset. His canvases reflect not only the beauty of land and sea but also an awareness of how fragile these environments are.

After many years teaching, exhibiting and writing, Michael has now returned to Kessingland, where he has re-established his studio and continues to paint the landscapes that first inspired him. His work carries a sense of history, emotion and lived experience that makes each piece quietly compelling.

Working in oil and acrylic, Hetty Van Wijk brings Working in oil and acrylic, Hetty Van Wijk brings a sense of clarity, colour and quiet beauty to her paintings. Born in the Netherlands and now happily rooted in Suffolk, she is fascinated by the way light interacts with objects, surfaces and reflections.

Hetty’s traditional still life pieces draw inspiration from the Dutch Masters, featuring glass, fruit, ceramics and all the tiny details that make a scene shimmer with life. She also paints portraits, capturing personality with warmth and precision, and has recently begun exploring landscapes where dramatic skies offer a fresh challenge.

If you enjoy still life, vibrant colour and beautifully observed detail, Hetty’s work is well worth discovering.
