I paint wild!
I am a mixed media artist concerned about the fragility of the wild world around me juxtaposed with its perceived abundance. I’m curious about how this apparent paradox feeds into our relationship with the natural world; how we value it; understand it and recognise its intrinsic importance.
I create intuitively, from my imagination, until the painting chooses to reveal itself. This process leads to the build up of many layers. A process resulting in a beautifully textured surface full of past ideas, scratches, scrapes, washes, marks and colour.
My art celebrates nature’s contrasting subtlety and dynamism. I am fascinated by natural colour shifts, unexpected marks, organic shapes and graceful, tangled movement. My hope is to evoke an emotional response in others which encourages a thoughtful reconnection with our natural world.
Nature, my garden, flowers, local wildlife and me…
I see us all intricately woven together in a delicately balanced, symbiotic relationship.
That relationship feeds my art and creativity.
