I am continuing to develop my textile designs, in particular my bespoke curtain fabrics  and co-ordinating cushions; an example is shown in this photograph. The design is taken from  my painting of Sorbaria sorbifolia.  This demonstrates that my paintings are at the very heart of my designs. Each painting takes many hours and is finely detailed. This quality of the work is manifest on fabric even when greatly enlarged. I have had some very exciting commissions for curtain fabric, one of which involved enlarging a picture to three metres in length – it was wonderful.
My Sorbaria design for a curtain has a shaded background – pale blue at the bottom to off white at the top and a densely printed border along the bottom. The cushion is double sided with a slightly different image on the other side.
From picture to fabric is a very long process but totally absorbing and so fulfilling; never a dull moment!
