Date: September 1, 2026
The SOS members’ Summer Exhibition at the Old Theatre, Framlingham, will run from Friday 21st – Monday 31st August, 10am-5pm.
As always, we need your help to make this event a success. Therefore, in addition to the usual stewarding slots, we have once again added further opportunities for you to offer assistance.
Wednesday 19th August, 9.00m-1.30pm – we need four volunteers to greet artists and check in their work on arrival at the venue (drop-off actually starts at 9.30am, so we have allowed time for a short briefing prior to opening the doors).
Friday 21st August – in addition to the morning and afternoon stewarding slots, we would appreciate some help between 5pm and 8pm setting up, and assisting, during and after the Meet the Artists event (previously known as the PV).
Finally, on Monday 31st August, in addition to the morning and afternoon stewarding slots, we will need four volunteers to help between 5pm and 7pm checking out artists’ work and tidying up .
It is a Condition of Entry that each exhibiting artist volunteers for a minimum of two stewarding shifts during the exhibition. You may complete your stewarding duty on a single day by booking a morning and afternoon shift on the same date. For whole-day shifts, a lunch break will be arranged. Please choose your preferred date(s) and time(s) from the following list. Feel free to select as many as you would like. If you are struggling to find a shift that you can do, please contact the exhibition organisers at admin@suffolkopenstudios.org.
NB For your safety, Suffolk Open Studios does not permit lone “working” (volunteering) so if we are unable to fill certain stewarding slots, the exhibition will not open at those times and the potential for any sales will be lost, not to mention the inconvenience it will cause to visitors who may have traveled to the venue especially.
Parking: There is limited on-site parking for stewards. If you are a member of English Heritage it might be better to park at Framlingham Castle (just across the road). There is some free roadside parking in the vicinity as well as a number of public car parks (for which there will be a charge). As Framlingham is likely to be particularly busy in August, we recommend that you arrive early to ensure you can find somewhere to park safely and legally.
Refreshments: There is a small kitchen area where you can make hot drinks. Please bring your own lunch. There is a very good cafe very close to the venue.
