Welcome to Suffolk Open Studios
This year in June there will be over 130 artists and makers around the county as part of Suffolk Open Studios - opening their doors to the public at weekends, so you can have a look behind the scenes and see them in action. Come and visit us to see a wealth of art and craft, and the inspiration that goes into creating it.

"A warm welcome to Open Studios, home to a huge range of art, including oils, watercolours, acrylics, photography, textiles, ceramics, jewellery, glassware, sculpture, 2D and 3D mixed media, printmaking, mosaics and much more. I hope that in 2016 more artists will be participating and more members of the public visiting the studios.
Art is not exclusive and should always be accessible, Open Studios are a perfect opportunity to make this a reality; to enable people to meet artists, ask them questions about their inspiration and choice of medium. The whole idea is to be welcoming, friendly and unpretentious, artists want people to come and visit them and to share their work with a wider audience. The SOS website offers members a good opportunity to showcase some of their work and the public the chance to see the sorts of art that our members produce. Members should not forget to keep their portfolios up-to-date, it’s a great feeling to know that you are making someone happy! Your artworks awakens people’s emotions, it can make people to feel alive when you allow them look at the world with your eyes, to understand your work and to fall in love with it.
This will be my last contribution to the web site as at the AGM in March I will be standing down after six years as Chairman. I want to make way for a new creative mind to bring fresh ideas in search of opportunities for the advancement of SOS for the benefit of its members. I hope that whoever takes this on has at their heart the promotion of SOS and the upkeep of its brand name.
One final quote “A work of art which did not begin in emotion is not art.” Paul Cezanne"
