Welcome to Suffolk Open Studios

In June 2017 there were over 100 artists and makers around the county as part of Suffolk Open Studios opening their doors to the public at weekends.

Visitors were able to have a look behind the scenes and see them in action.

In 2018 we are aiming to expand and diversify the Open Studios concept but still with the intimate venues of Artists’ own studios. To receive regular updates, sign up to Friends of SOS or become a member.

Chairman’s View – 2017

Suffolk Open Studios is a well-established organisation with around 110 Artists opening their studios to the public during June each year. Our aim is to celebrate the outstanding and diverse talent of Suffolk based Artists.

We welcome All Artists with Studios based in Suffolk to join as a member. We also extend a warm welcome to studio visitors. New for this year is the opportunity to subscribe as a ‘Friend of SOS’ to be prepared for the annual event in June as well as getting regular updates of Artists Exhibitions throughout the year along with a copy of the Directory delivered to your door. The Directory provides information about Artists and maps to find their studios these are available at different locations around the county.

The Artists may organise ‘Artists Trails’ where Artists will provide an independent leaflet to guide you around the studios in their area of Suffolk. We encourage ‘Hubs’ to be organised in rural areas of Suffolk to accommodate Artists and visitors alike.

Applications for Artists to become Full Members are welcome between 1st October and 31st December 2017 to be able to open your studio in June 2018. Please register to join as a Full Member or alternatively join as a Member to be listed in the directory (without opening your studio). Any queries please email or visit our FAQ page.

The aim of Suffolk Open Studios is to celebrate the Art in our county; we welcome as many visitors as possible to the studios during June. To give a taste of what is to come we are holding an exhibition in The Apex, Bury St Edmunds during April and May 2018.
